Getting to Pisco from Lima
- In Lima take a bus to the Ica region (Buscompanies Flores and Soyuz / Perubus are recommended).
- The Soyuz / Perubus station is located at the corner of Mexico 333 and Paseo de la Republica in the “La Victoria” neighborhood. Most taxi drivers will understand if you simply ask them to take you to the Soyuz autobus terminal.
Get in the line labeled “Lima-Cañete-Chincha-Pisco-Ica” and purchase a ticket to Pisco, 21 soles (about $7USD) or 28 soles (about $9 USD) on Sundays. Buses run south from Lima every 20 minutes from 3AM to midnight. Soyuz and Perubus are the same company and your ticket is good on either bus line, regardless of what is painted on the side. - In Lima there are two Flores stations. The buses that go directly to the Plaza de Armas in Pisco only depart from the Flores station in downtown Lima. If you depart from the other station you will end up at the Pan Americana roadside, just like the Soyuz passengers. The station is located at Javier Montevide #552. Purchase a ticket to Pisco, approx. 15 soles (about $6USD). Buses run every hour.
- The driver will announce when you’ve reached Pisco. It’s the third major stop; 1st Cañete, then Chincha followed by Pisco. Pisco is about an hour south of Chincha.
- Soyuz / Perubus drops off passengers at the side of the Pan Americana highway (El Cruce) and does not enter Pisco, so you'll need to get a taxi to the volunteer house. The taxiride is about 10 Soles. Soyuz has more departures per day. Flores often drops passengers in the center of Pisco, from where a moto taxi can be taken to the house for 1.50 soles, or a taxi for 3 soles.
- Flores and Soyuz buses are modern and clean, with reclining seats and video screens.
- Large pieces of luggage can be stowed underneath the bus (you receive a luggage ticket).
- Hold carry-on items and valuables on your lap. Don’t ever use the overhead luggage racks, and keep your valuables hidden.
- It's risky to keep your bag between your feet as people have had their bags unzipped from behind and
their valuables stolen. - Snacks are available at the stations and stops & from vendors who board the bus.
- Keep your ticket handy, as it’s checked numerous times throughout the ride.
- The bus ride is 4 hours. Plan your travel to arrive in Pisco well before dark.
