Who is Pisco Sin Fronteras
Pisco Sin Fronteras is a volunteer organization that began after the 8.0 magnitude earthquake hit the region in August 2024. After the earthquake, Pisco was left with nearly 80% of its infrastructure destroyed. People were forced to live in make shift housing of plastic walls, cardboard furniture, dirt floors and tarps as roofs. In the last 4 years the city has been slowing rebuilding itself but many people still remain in deplorable living conditions. The city still faces many social problems as well. For example, Pisco has the 3rd highest rate of teen pregnancies in all of Peru with 11% these occurring with 14 year girls or younger.
Since the earthquake Pisco Sin Fronteras mission has been to improve the living conditions and quality of life for the people of Pisco. By working with individual families and the community we have been able to construct homes, community centers and develop educational programs in a variety of different projects over the last years. This organization is not funded by any government entity but survives solely the donations from its volunteers and the communities they come from.
Since Pisco Sin Fronteras began in August 2024 we have seen over 1500 volunteers walk through our doors from over 45 countries, and have completed over 300 projects, as well as improved the lives of hundreds of Peruvians in Pisco. However, there is much more that needs to be done and YOU can be a part of that!

How Long Can You Volunteer and Who are We Looking For
You can volunteer with Pisco Sin Fronteras anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 year in a variety of areas including assisting with building homes, working on sanitation issues, teaching English, and much more. This program is open to any major and internship options are available. However, we are particularly looking for students majoring in engineering, education, community development, Spanish, and health related majors.
We are looking for individuals that are open-minded, ready for an adventure, hard working, and dedicated to assisting those in need. Pisco Sin Fronteras offers practical experience that cannot be matched anywhere else.
How Much Does It Cost?
The great part about Pisco Sin Fronteras is that they do not charge a placement fee and volunteers only pay to live and eat here. The cost is approximately $6 a day for room and board.
Where Will I Live?
All volunteers live in one of two dorm style housing units provided by Pisco Sin Fronteras. Showers are available and all meals are provided on working days.
What Will I Do?
Volunteers work all day Monday through Friday and a half day on Saturday. You can pick the projects you want to work one (you can even pick a new one every day). In addition, Pisco Sin Fronteras is open to your suggestions for projects. Another great thing about Pisco Sin Fronteras is that they are extremely open to volunteers coming in with ideas for how to improve the Pisco community. The staff and volunteers will look at the proposed project and do their best to make it happen. However, arriving with a project idea is not necessary. Current projects include constructing homes, working on sanitation projects, building gardens or playgrounds, and community development in the form of health, safety, and hygiene outreach.
